Dr. Alicia's Weekly Update

Updated: May 25, 2020

Dear Friends,

Are you terrified/angry/curious about the town’s proposal to close Johnson Elementary, eliminate High School & Middle School sports, theater programming, middle school language and all after school clubs? Then you’re in the right place!

Welcome to Protect Natick’s Future (PNF’s) first weekly update! We created PNF to organize a citizen’s response to the $8.5M budget shortfall Natick is facing in FY21 (which starts July 1, 2020). This weekly blast is your one-stop-shop for 1) how you can help PNF this week and 2) what we’ve been up to in the past week.

Each weekly update will contain:

  • HOW CAN I HELP - Read this section for quick, easy ways to contribute and links to town meetings.

  • LEARNING CENTER - Confused about what the h*** is going on? Us too! Check out the learning center if you want more information about town committees, budgets, and town politics.

  • WHAT’S NEXT - See what we are planning for the weeks and months to come.

How can I help in just a few clicks?

“Like” and share our facebook page (“Protect Natick’s Future”) with your Natick friends.

We hit 610 subscribers over the weekend - can we get to 1,000?

Login to Town Meetings this Week - URGENT!

We are now logging in as “NAME (PNF).” For example, I will be logged in as “Alicia Lynch (PNF)”. Even if you’re not listening to the whole meeting, just having your name on that screen sends our town’s elected and hired officials a message! Here’s a list of meetings this week. I have made a note next to the most important ones to attend:

Monday May 18 @6pm - Board of Selectmen’s Meeting

Budget discussion starts around 7:45

Meeting ID: 971 2684 6549 Password: 736028

Tuesday May 19 @5:30p - Board of Health Meeting

The proposed Johnson closure is an agenda item on the BOH meeting this week as local healthcare experts raise concerns about closing Johnson and increasing density (adding 80 students, 3-4 per class) at Brown, Memorial, and Ben Hem during a global pandemic when social distancing is likely to be the "norm" for the foreseeable future.
